Carpet Cleaning FAQs
At First Choice Cleaning we use a method called Hot Water Extraction (also Steam Extraction) which is the preferred cleaning method by carpet manufacturers. With our truck mounted system, we extract a large amount of the steam water back out of the carpet which lessens the drying time. We typically recommend 4-6 hours for dry time if the building or home is well ventilated. Buildings that are closed-up with no air movement or central air will undergo a longer dry time. We also recommend leaving fans on the carpet to speed up drying. If you do not have fans, our technicians can leave some behind upon your request.
First Choice offers the complete service when our technicians clean carpets. Our technicians place sofas, recliners and other movable objects on glides for easy adjustment. However, there are some things to take note of that we would recommend. First, we typically do not feel comfortable moving large entertainment centers. There are usually too many wires to configure and feel best to not touch them. Secondly, we typically do not move pianos. Our technicians are not required to move objects like pianos that are excessive in weight. Thirdly, we recommend not moving large cabinetry with delicate china or crystal. Again we feel best to leave furniture like these and clean around them. If you have any concerns or questions about particular items please talk to the manager on site. We always appreciate our customers moving smaller items and picking-up before we arrive. This helps us provide you with the best service possible.
While our carpet cleaning equipment will pickup some debris, we recommend vacuuming your carpets prior to our arrival. We appreciate carpets to be cleaned of clutter and toy-free when our technicians arrive. This allows us to provide you with the best service possible.
Water Damage Restoration FAQs
First Choice Cleaning & Restorations offers services and consulting for odor control. Typically, odors do rise when there is a water loss. The cause can be a variety of issues but usually comes down to the carpet and padding. When carpet and padding get wet, they begin to evaporate the water with all the odors that were hidden down underneath. The quickest way to get control the odor is to dry the carpet and padding. This may take several days depending on the situation. We typically recommend a couple of options when carpet and padding begin to give off odor. First, if the odor comes immediately after the water loss, we would recommend replacing the pad underneath. It is either old and/or dirty and will have a slight odor even when dried. Basements "sweat" in summer which is typically a condensation process that occurs. If this padding absorbs even the smallest amount of condensation it will have an odor. Secondly, if the odor is faint or gradually develops, we would recommend drying the carpet and pad "in place" and having the carpets professionally steam cleaned and deodorized afterwards. We also use HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) Negative Air Fans which also clean the air and reduce odor.
First Choice Cleaning & Restorations offers expert care in structural drying and water damage restoration. Many times, especially in older homes, a homeowner may come across mold at some point in the life of the house. At First Choice we do not specialize in mold remediation. If you happen to find mold in your home we recommend you getting it taken care of immediately by calling mold remediation professionals. Mold will spread and will release toxins that are harmful to breath in. Our job as water restoration specialist is to make sure you never get to that point. We cannot guarantee your home will never have mold, but we do guarantee to dry your home thoroughly when you experience water damage. A dry home significantly decreases the chances for mold growth and contamination.
